R&D and Technology Development

Scientific research is an essential part of robust waste management.  It is through the pursuance of research that the critical issues can be resolved. Cross-cutting research can result in new processes, technologies, practices in designs, operations and maintenance, etc.

When these technologies and practices are properly implemented across the entire waste management system through improved coordination and collaboration, they can help close the issues in the sector. CoE collaborates and performs joint research with stakeholders and partners across the entire waste management sector, including State and local agencies, industry, and not-for-profit institutions. The development and application of new technologies, designs, processes, and materials are critical to an effectively functioning system.
